Please help us compile a bibliography of recommended readings on women in ministry leadership. Add your favorites in the "Comments" section below.
I strongly recommend the following:
Payne, Philip B. Man and Woman, One in Christ: An Exegetical and Theological Study of Paul's Letters. Zondervan, 2009. ISBN 978-0-310-21988-0 This is perhaps the most extensive and scholarly treatment of Paul's statements on male and female identities within the Body of Christ. While working on his Ph.D. at Cambridge, Payne set out to disprove the proposal that women should be eligible for ordination in Christian ministry. His extensive research convinced him he had been wrong.
Spencer, Aida Dina Besancon. Beyond the Curse: Women Called to Ministry. Nelson: 1985. Aida Spencer teaches at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. ISBN-13: 978-0801047749
Jewett, Paul K. Man as Male and Female: A Study in Sexual Relationships From a Theological Point of View. Errdmans, 1975 / 1990. The late P. K. Jewett was one of the early professors at Fuller Theological Seminary. ISBN-13: 978-0802815972
Alexander, Kimberly Ervin & R. Hollis Gause. Women in Leadership: A Pentecostal Perspective. Center for Pentecostal Leadership and Care, Cleveland, Tennessee, 2006 ISBN-13: 978-1596841703 This small book represents the development of Dr. Gause's exegetical theology over several decades.
